Veoma važan korak ambasadorice Kanade u BiH, Isabelle Poupart, koja je u pratnji predstavnika Ministarstva vanjskih poslova Kanade pred odlučivanje Vlade Kanade o peticiji e-1837, kojom se traži krivično sankcionisanje negatora genocida u Srebrenici, posjetila Memorijalni centar Potočari, Srebrenica i susrela se sa Majkama Srebrenice.

Ambasadorica je poslala poruku direktoru IGK:

Direktor Instituta za istraživanje genocida Kanada, Emir Ramić, je primio poruku od ambasadorice Kanade u Bosni i Hercegovini gospođe Isabelle Poupart u kojoj se kaže: - "Hvala vam na poruci u vezi 24. godišnjice obilježavanja genocida u Srebrenici. Kao što znate, kanadski politički predstavnici su tokom niza godina izdavali saopćenja o genocidu u Srebrenici. Sa moje strane, u protekle dvije godine, 11. jula, izdala sam zajedničke izjave sa ambasadorom Stéphaneom Dionom u svojstvu specijalnog izaslanika Kanade za Evropu. Istu zajedničku izjavu izdaćemo i ovog 11. jula. Želim vas informisati da sam trenutno u Bosni i Hercegovini, a jučer sam prvi put posjetila Memorijalni centar Srebrenica u Potočarima sa kolegama iz Ministarstva vanjskih poslova Kanade. Bilo je to veoma dirljivo i srceparajuće iskustvo. Pored informacija koji smo dobili od osoblja Memorijala, zahvalna sam preživjelima žrtvama, uključujući i mnoge Majke Srebrenice, koji su sa nama podijelili svoje priče i pratili nas u obilasku Memorijala.

Istovremeno na svome Twitteru ambasadorica Kanade u Bosni i Hercegovini je napisala:

"Posjetila sam Memorijalni centar Srebrenica u Potočarima u znak sećanja na žrtve genocida 1995. i odala počast žrtvama i priznanje hrabrosti preživjelim žrtava genocida u ime države Kanade".

U odgovoru ambasadorici Kanade u Bosni i Hercegovini, Emir Ramić, direktor Instituta za istraživanje genocida Kanada, je napisao:

"U ime Instituta za istraživanje genocida Kanada, Kongresa Bošnjaka Sjeverne Amerike, u ime Bosanske zajednice u Kanadi i posebno u ime preživjelih žrtava genocida u Srebrenici koji žive u Kanadi, hvala vam što ste u ime države Kanade odali počast žrtvama genocida u Memorijalnom centru Srebrenica u Potočarima i tako ohrabrili preživjele žrtve genocida, a posebno Majke Srebrenice da nastave svoju borbu za istinu, pravdu i kulturu sjećanja. Zahvaljujem se državi Kanadi za sve što je učinila za državu Bosnu iHercegovinu i za kulturu sjećanja na najveći zločin poslije Holokausta u Europi, zločin genocida u Srebrenici. Vaša posjeta je posebno značajna u momentu kada je prije nekoliko dana Kanadski parlament prezentirao peticiju e-1837 kojom se od Vlade Kanade traži krivično sankcionisanje negatora genocida u Srebrenici u Kanadi. Nadamo se da će Vladi Kanade vaše odavanje počasti žrtvama genocida u Memorijalnom centru Srebrenica u Potočarima i izjave koje ste dobili od Majke Srebrenici, biti još jedan argument u prihvatanju zahtijeva peticije e-1837. Hvala državi Kanadi na svemu što čini za državu Bosnu i Hercegovinu, a posebno za kulturu sjećanja na genocid u Srebrenici".

Dear Prof. dr. Ramic,
Thank you for your message regarding 24th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide. As you know, over the years, Canadian representatives have issued a number of statements about the genocide in Srebrenica. For my part, for the past two years, on July 11, I have issued a joint statement with Ambassador Stéphane Dion in his capacity as Special Envoy for Europe. I expect that the same approach will be followed this year - on or around that date.I also wanted to let you know that I am currently in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and visited the Srebrenica Memorial in Potocari for the first time yesterday with colleagues from Global Affairs Canada. It was a deeply moving but also heart wrenching experience. In addition to the briefing we received from the Memorial staff, I am grateful to the survivors, including many mothers of Srebrenica, who shared their stories with us and accompanied us to the cemetery.

Thank you for honouring the Bosnian victims of genocide in the Srebrenica Memorial Centre in Potocari on behalf of Canada. Our grand thank you comes on behalf of the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada, the Congress of North American Bosniaks, the Bosnian community in Canada and, particularly, the survivors of the Srebrenica genocide. This will encourage the surviving victims of the Srebrenica genocide to continue their struggle and fight for truth and justice and to never let this atrocity be forgotten. This encouragement will be especially important for the “Mothers of Srebrenica” which is the name given to the Bosnian mothers who lost their entire families including their children, husbands, brothers and uncles, among others. We thank Canada and its representatives for everything that has been done for Bosnia and Herzegovina and for never forgetting the worst crime committed in Europe since the Holocaust, which was the genocide that occurred in Srebrenica. Your visit to Potocari is also extremely significant in relation to the e-1837 petition that was presented to the Canadian Parliament, in which we asked the Government of Canada to criminally sanction any individual that denies the Srebrenica genocide. We sincerely hope that the Government of Canada will honour your sacrifice for the victims of genocide at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre and that the statements you received from the Mothers of Srebrenica will be a beneficial argument for approving the e-1837 petition.
