GRADONAČELNIK WINDSORA, DREW DILKENS, PROGLASIO 11. JULI 2022. - DANOM SJEĆANJA NA GENOCID U SREBRENICI

Gradonačelnik Windsora, Drew Dilkens proglasio 11. juli 2022. godine Danom sjećanja na genocid u Srebrenici, ističe se u saopćenju IGK. Windsor je prvi grad u svijetu koji je podigao spomenik žrtvama genocida u Srebrenici. U Windsoru je i rođen Brian Masse, član Kanadskog parlamenta i višegodišnji sponzor svih kanadskih događaja iz kulture sjećanja na genocid u Srebrenici. Kanade je počela zvanično priznavati genocid u BiH nakon što je 2010. godine Parlament usvojio Rezoluciju kojom se 11. juli proglašava Danom sjećanja na žrtve genocida. Žrtve genocida u Srebrenici i BiH nisu zaboravljene u Kanadi. Kanadska vlada u kontinuitetu na poseban način ispoljava senzibilitet i pijetet prema žrtvama genocida u BiH. To potvrđuje dvije rezolucije Kanadskog parlamenta o genocidu u Srebrenici, izložbena postavka o genocidu u Srebrenici u Kanadskom muzeju za ljudska prava, jednoj od najuglednijih svjetskih muzejskih ustanova, izučavanje genocida u BiH u kanadskim školama, otkrivanje spomenika žrtvama genocida u Srebrenici u Windsoru, prvom takvom komemorativnom spomen obilježju u Sjevernoj Americi, podjeli Cvijeta Srebrenice, simbola genocida, svim članovima Kanadskog parlamenta, peticija Parlamenta Kanade za krivično sankcionisanje negatora genocida u Srebrenici u Kanadi i proglašenje 11. jula Danom sjećanja na žrtve genocida u Srebrenici u gradovima Hamilton i Windsor. Direktor Instituta za istraživanje genocida Kanada, Emir Ramić, se zahvalio kanadskom parlamentarcu Brianu Masseu i Drew Dilkensu za kontinuirani kanadski doprinos kulturi pamćenja i sjećanja na genocid u Srebrenici.
Windsor Mayor, Drew Dilkens, declared July 11, 2022, the Day of Remembrance of the Srebrenica Genocide. Windsor is the first city in the world to create a monument for the victims of Srebrenica. Brian Masse, a member of the Canadian Parliament and a longtime sponsor of all Canadian events in the culture of remembering the genocide, was also born in Windsor. On behalf of the Bosnian community in Canada, I thank Brian Masse and Drew Dilkens for their continued Canadian contribution to the culture of remembrance of the Srebrenica genocide. "Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day" July 11, 2022 WHEREAS: The Canadian Federal Parliament passed two resolutions in 2010 and 2015 acknowledging the genocide that the Serbian forces perpetrated in Srebrenica and all of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995; and WHEREAS: July 11, 2022 will commemorate the 27th anniversary of the Srebrenica Genocide in which at least 8,372 innocent Bosniak civilians were executed and 30,000 were expelled from their homes in the worst atrocity in Europe since the Holocaust; and WHEREAS: This anniversary raises awareness of the tragic suffering of the Bosnian people and honours and remembers those who died as a policy of ethnic cleansing and aggression; and WHEREAS: The Institute for Research of Genocide Canada is the organization representing the Bosniaks in Canada; and WHEREAS: The City of Windsor recognizes the importance of this event to bring closure for the Bosnian people through justice and truth; and THEREFORE: I, Drew Dilkens, Mayor of the City of Windsor, hereby proclaim July 11, 2022 "Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day" in the City of Windsor. |
